For the first time this summer ASDa will be involved in teaching the Urban Big Data Analtytics course organized by the Vancouver Summer Program. Vancouver Summer Program invites international undergraduate and gradute students from various scientific disciplines to visit UBC for a month.
The course on Urban Big Data Analytics is short but intense and it is focused on data science for urban issues. In this course students will learn how to think as data scientists, by mastering ways of identifying the urban issues, understanding how the data were collected, analysing the data and interpreting the results. Students will be introduced into the basic tools needed to access and manipulate large datasets from open-data platforms, from data collection to data storage, data wrangling and data analysis.
